Today I headed out early to do the North Bethlehem Volkssport walk. I
wanted to beat the Sunday buffet crowd at the Hotel B. Thankfully they
were still setting up.
I signed in and headed to the
historic district. That's when I remembered that the pedestrian bridge
was out. That's a problem. I'm in charge of directions. Thankfully only
one person did the walk during Musikfest, and I'm sure there were
detours all over the place. He didn't mark anything on his card.
It
looks like I'll need to have them explore the historic quarter, and
then go back to Ohio Rd, cross the stone bridge (which was also hit
during Musikfest...but thankfully it's open), turn left and go thru
Festplatz to pick up the directions.
More importantly,
while I was walking I was looking for ways to change the route to
freshen it up. I have some ideas. We'll need to test them.
On
Sand Island, I checked out the progress of the stairs on the bridge.
The wire frames have been encased in concrete. They look far from the
bridge. I think the tiny landing will be gone. Hopefully the new stairs
will be better than the old ones. I did not see the giant turtle on the
canal path. Probably still hiding from MF.
It was a nice day, not excessively hot, but the humidity was building.
