d&l, palmer section

I kind-of took a chance today. It's starting to get hot again, and I didn't leave till nearly 11. Had to get the laundry done first.

I picked the D&L in Palmer because I needed to get eggs at the farm. They are about a mile apart. I parked at the Rt. 33 boat launch and headed toward Easton. Then, when I arrived at Riverside Park, I turned around and came back. The people playing softball looked really hot. (Restroom I-3.5)
On the way bag a frog hopped in front of me across the path.

While I was walking I had a thought. I've done the same 50 miles or so of the D&L a lot. The ABE portions frequently. The Slatington, Walnutport, Northampton sections often. Heck I've even done Lehighton, and a little in Philly. But never the entire thing.

Then this morning I saw on the news this 98 year old man that walked coast to coast. Five miles a day, for three and a half years. He reached the Atlantic this morning.  It gave me crazy ideas.

So I've made a decision. Next summer—if I don't work like this year—I'm doing the whole thing. Maybe three times a week I'll walk it. I'll start up in Jim Thorpe and walk downhill until I reach Bristol. Eventually. It's 167 miles. Three days a week x eight weeks, would only be seven miles a day. I could probably do ten. The hard part would be getting back to my car to drive home each day.

And I had another thought. If there was a way to get bikes there, I could bike sections of it. A different type of exercise.

Anybody wanna come? One day, multiple days, it's all good.
