I thought terrrific. No decision to make where I'm walking today. I'll just go to CVS. Not a long walk but in 84% humididty, it would be a workout.
Now for those who are logical, I'll let you in on a few local tidbits. At Itaska and Fiot the "Walbert and Burlingham house" (the huge brick one on the corner) has been bought by flippers. I cringe every time I walk past. Initially thought they were restoring it. Looks like they aren't. The put small windows in and plugged up around them. Didn't re-brick. They took a bulldozer to the back stone wall and knocked it out. I'm guessing that will be a parking pad. Why it's needed I have no idea. They have at least one space in front, and the entire block to the alley on the side. Four, five cars, maybe even six cars could park there.
They have done nothing with the dead trees, and I saw a tree service there. My guess—to much money—so the dead trees remain, and the sidewalk is still heaved up. A lot.
At the five points, things have taken a turn for the worse. The old transmission place has been empty for years and no one is taking care of the property. The huge grey house next to it is also empty. The beautiful metal fence has been hit a few times, and the shutters are falling off. It too is being neglected. As is the house next to it. My guess is that it's intentional and at some point all the buildings will be removed and some sort of fast food will build in the spot.
Down at Wendy's they are remodeling.
Up at the Wilbur mansion they are painting (baby shit yellow) and restoring. I think the Masonic Temple is being torn down and replaced. This property was purchased by the same family that owns the Sayre Mansion. It too will be a bed and breakfast. I think the temple replacement will be a reception venue/apartments/suites, but I'm not sure.
I'll have to take the same walk tomorrow and take pictures. this post is kind of senseless without them.
Now the big rub. I got to CVS and there were no prescriptions for my roomie. Wasted trip. Could have went someplace more interesting.
