movie monday

Last night I looked online for places to walk, rather than hike, within 1/2 hour of my sister's house. I found Cherokee Park. According to the city's website, "Cherokee Park's main feature is the 2.4-mile Scenic Loop, with separate lanes for vehicle traffic (one-way) and recreational users. One of the original parks designed by Frederick Law Olmsted, the park provides a pastoral setting amid rolling hills, open meadows and woodlands of the Beargrass Creek valley."  I'm guessing the neighborhood is old money, upper class.

It took about 20 minutes to get there. It's in the city, but not downtown.

We followed the scenic route, and kept turning left so as not to end out on the street. Once we were unclear and stopped a runner to ask which way to go.

The park had two playgrounds that we saw. Plus several pavilions, a dog bark, numerous other trails, a bird viewing area, lots of stair, and a golf course. There was also a fountain and an interesting retaining wall/fountain The park was beautiful. It reminded me of Central Park...a green oasis in a major city. You'd forget you were in a city until you would  hear the traffic as you were walking. There were some steep inclines and some rolling hills.

The park was busy for a Monday morning. I can't imagine what it's like on a weekend.

Tomorrow we are ging to Bernheim Forest to see the giants. But first, we're headed to the movies.
