screwed saturday

Today we got up early and headed into Sylvania. Sylvania appears to be an affluent town, with a thriving downtown. It reminds me a lot of West Chester.

The walk-box was on the porch of a yoga studio. All the entries were by the point of contact. Nobody had ever came to walk into Michigan. He didn't even have envelopes or start cards in the box. Next door was a little historic village. Think Historic Bethlehem, with a bathroom. But nothing opened until probably 10, so the bathroom was useless.

This walk was basically a triangle. It took us thru some beautiful neighborhoods, next to a park and thru the business district. It also went into Michigan. In this town the traffic boxes were painted. Though I think that is was probably a vinyl wrap.

We were back on the road by 9:30. Not as much driving this morning. That was exciting. And when we did drive, half wasn’t on the interstate. Instead we drove around the Ohio side of Lake Erie. If I was to spend any time in Ohio, it would be here—tthere were endless refuges and parks—also wind farms, and a nuke plant.

The check-in in Cleveland was at ritzy hotel. One where we needed a key to use the bathroom! Parking was a challenge. We chose a covered lot, paid the $20 and all the spaces were reserved! The sign said daily users honk. We did. Nobody came. Ultimately we had to go to another lot. We ended up spending $30 on parking. Those are NYC prices.

We did the walk backwards. We wanted to be sure to get into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. It was on Bonnie’s not-really-a-bucket list. Getting in was a challenge. There was some sort of event Saturday night and there was fencing everywhere. We finally found the entrance. I was there back in 2000 and didn’t really enjoy it. It’s gotten much better.

But no matter what they do,  to me it feels like a Hard Rock Cafe without food. It was jam packed. You couldn't get close to anything unless you were patient. I don't know about Bonnie, but I physically ran into at least one person. There were several galleries closed while they were changing exhibits. That's probably why it was so packed in the galleries that were open.

We finished the walk by having lunch at celebrity chef Michael Symons place Mabels. The food was delicious, but I didn’t care for the BBQ sauce. Too mustardy. The carrots kicked butt.  As did the broccoli salad. My brisket barely had to be chewed. You could cut it with a fork. It was expensive, but not as expensive as I anticipated.

On the way we saw the Dunkin' mascots, and got a free doughnut.

Then, in the words of Willie Nelson, we were "on the road again". It was a three-hour drive to Pauxatauny. The last stop on this road trip.

Miles/Steps:         6.7 total
Weather:              86, sunny, humid
Wildlife:               none
Bathrooms:          I-5 for the hotel. Wowzer. We needed a room key to go in. The one at the resturant was I-4.5. But it was only a 1-seater.
Money found:       1 cent
