fitness challenge. it was so much fun!

For Angel's 40th birthday she wanted to be a kid a gain. I needed a Fitness Challenge. Put the two requests together and you get the trampolines at the Sky Zone in Oaks, Pa. OMG it's was so fun. And exhausting. And sweat generating.

I originally made reservations for 4—Angel, her daughter, Lydia and I. But it turned out to be Lyds weekend to work. Angel's daughter is just shy of 11. My great niece (and she is great) is just shy of 13. Sounded like a perfect match. So I FB messaged her mom to see if she could go. But I kept hearing in my head her twin brother saying "Bug gets to do everything and mom always says no to me."

So I went on the website and found out there was still spaces open for our jump. I contacted my niece again and said they could both come. She said yes, and I ordered another ticket.

We all needed wavers. I did mine online when I ordered the tickets. I printed one out for Eryn to do the twins. She was delighted that you could put up to four kids on one form. Angel did theirs on-site.

Lil Miss had gone to a girl scout sleepover the night before and forgot to pack sneakers. We had this whole conversation in the car about shoe sizes. It's a good thing. When it came time to issue socks I knew everyone's size and could grab the correct ones. The girls had medium, Angel and my nephew had the large, and me—aka big foot—had the extra large. The kids wore theirs most of the day in their shoes.

We had left the bulk of our items in the car, but you were not allowed anything in your pockets on the trampoline floor. Not wanting to leave the few dollars I had in my pocket, and Angels phone unattended in the open cubbies, we opted for a twenty-five cent locker. All our shoes fit into one!

There were four areas to pick from —the trampoline field, a foam pit, dodge ball and a basketball court. The trampoline floor was level with the floor-floor. There were three sections, little kids, school aged kids, and adults. Each section had monitors. And they left you get away with nothing. You broke the rules, you got yelled at. Think the best lifeguard you ever had.

The orange line above separated the the adults from the big kids. It took awhile to get airborne but I finally did. Then I fell. Well, I fell more than once. But not nearly as often as I thought I would. Never got super high.

The kids were delighted not to have to stay with the adults. They could go anywhere in the building —together—and not have to tell us. There was also a meeting place if they got separated.

They left the field a few times to play dodge ball but there was always a long line. I don't think anyone tried the hoops.
They loved the foam pit. I took a lot of photos, but this is the best one. It's Bug flying into the pit. The kids had enough sense to sit as they landed.
This is me. Great form, right? Wrong.
Look, I'm up to my arm pit in foam. And my foot got stuck. And I couldn't get out. And I lost my socks. And they had to get me a ladder. Needless to say I went back to the trampoline field.

I thought trampolines would be easy and not much of a workout.  I was so wrong.

The hour flew. We were exhausted and had jelly legs when done. We retrieved our shoes and headed to the car. Five bottles of water from the cooler were gone in seconds.

Sky Zone. Highly recommended. They even help fat girls out of pits, with a smile on their face. Memo to self. Take more water.

Bathrooms were an I-4.5 which is surprising with all the people using them. Plus the water in the fountains was cold.

It was about a 10 minute trip to Valley Forge to eat lunch. Except for me, nobody, including Angel, had ever been there. So we decided to walk a while. To do that we had to buy Lil Miss sneakers at Target across the street from Sky Zone. Then we stopped at Wawa and bought sandwiches. There was just enough room in the cooler. (Oops. Birthday cake surprise ruined.)

After lunch we walked around Valley Forge.
Kool J, who wants to be GI Joe when he grows up, loved the antique weapons of all kinds in the visitor center. This rifle was his favorite.
We ended up walking about 3.5 miles.
Bug took 174 pictures on my iPod. Including this selfie. She had a great time

All in all a great day. Two slept on the way home.

Bathroom—Visitor Center lot I-3.5. Further out at a parking lot. Maybe 2.5.

My next Fitness Challenge is June 21. Again with the three amigos. We are celebrating the twins 13th (how is that possible) birthday and playing laser tag. I'm not sure how much exercise it is.  I guess we'll see.

Any ideas for fitness adventures? The May and June ones used up most of my entertainment budget for the summer. I need suggestions that are free or inexpensive. Especially if we take the three amigos.

This week in walking was crappy. I worked three days at the art center and sat on my fat butt all day. I am so not used to this. Two days I walked back and forth, but it is barely a three mile round trip. One day I drove because I had to go to Easton first. Tuesday I walked with Bonnie. Friday I only walked with Ahart's. It was pretty dismal. My best day all week was yesterday.
