mother's day breakfast at gollub park
Today Angel and I went to Gollub park for breakfast. The husband stayed home with the sleeping child. Don't tell her where we went!
Angel told me about this place maybe two weeks ago. I've wanted to go ever since. I have never seen it in my research on areas to walk in the Lehigh Valley. I thought I knew them all.
I packed breakfast in my Tail on The Trail insulated backpack. First time I've used it. It was a premium the first year. We had almond mini croissants, chocolate mini croissants, raspberries, and chocolate covered strawberries. I also packed PBJ. But that didn't get eaten. Guess what is for lunch tomorrow! Lots of food for two people.
This park is very hidden. I bet it doesn't get used very much. Except by teenagers spraying graffiti. We took a twisty-turny-winding road to get there. It ended with a hairpin turn. That was fun. We parked and walked in the main road. It's densely forested and there are some beautiful houses on the road. Bet they run about $750K.
This view of the Delaware has to be expensive.
Then we turned on the trail. It's a natural trail. Rocks—because it's Pennsylvania—and tree roots. I had wished I brought my hiking stick. We kept going down, down down. Until we reached this pile of rocks. The end of the trail. I didn't climb out too far. If the child would have come along she'd want to be at the edge. Someone before us left their panties right before the rocks. (That's a whole lot of work for some whoopie. I can think of much better places that involve no work at all!).
I wore lime green in case I fell. Easier for the search and resue to find me.
Once we reached the rocks we spread out our picnic and ate. We each had two croissants because the others didn't come. (maybe I should start my food journal tomorrow!), some raspberries, and a strawberry. We packed up the remaining food, and trash and started heading out.
That's when I stopped and pulled out one of the croissant papers and picked up the panties and put them in the trash bag.
After climbing up the rocky trail, I began to pick up more trash. By the end of our walk I had a full bag. Thank goodness there was a can in the lot.
Sadly, our whole adventure was only 1.3 miles. I was sweating like a pig and breathing hard.
