only seven sections left

This was written 9/14. I never "published" it.

My persistent leg soreness took a toll on our walk today. Of the seven walks we still have to do five are about 10 miles. One was five and the last four. Pam wanted to do one of the longer ones but I decided on the five. That way I was pretty sure I'd still be able to walk tomorrow.

I couldn't sleep last night so I came down at 2 am and did a blog post. I saw a picture of me walking down the trail. I saw my feet and they were turned in. Looking at my shoes this morning they are clearly substaintially worn down on one side, just like my sandals. I need to buy new shoes. My leg will probably stop hurting. I'll need to break them in before next Friday's 10-mile walk.

We met in New hope and then took Pam's car to the start point at the Virginia Forrest trailhead. Then we walked back to New Hope. The trailhead  featured a bridge, a parking lot, a nice view of the river and the cutest building for the bathroom. The trail was mostly narrow and busy with bikers and dog walkers.

This trail followed the canal which most of the time was empty. The water that did remain was often green and gross. It had locks and aquifers ...

.. stunning doors

and cool artwork.

Not to mention fun signs. Do you see the spotted lantern fly on this one? We didn't. It's still alive.

Clearly these boats are no longer used for dinner cruises.

Walking thru town to get back to the parking lot, we encountered these ladies and gents.

Miles/Steps:    5
Weather:         72, sunny, breezy
