Since today is a work day we need to do a local short walk. It was my term to drive to Pam's. I picked Camp Olympic Park. COP used to be a camp for special needs kids, I believe. It closed as a camp many years ago. The township converted Ito a park and did a lot of work on the property.
Pam had wanted to meet at COP once before and it was on my list, so I suggested it. It's near Emmaus High School. What I didn't know until I got there was there aren't any actual trails. There's a really cool play area. There is rental spaces. And there is a disk golf course.
We walked the disk golf course.
We started with hole 9 and did the back 9 first. We were in the woods, and on lawns. I can't imagine how anyone hits any of those shots. They had really cool and unique catches at many holes. There was a fitness class in the parking lot. They were spread out and no one was wearing masks.
After we hit hole 18 we walked the old course under the turnpike, and then returned to hole one and did it all over again. There was some serious hills on the first half. One was so steep it had a rail.
We. also passed a house built on three old limestone kilns on the front 9. At some point we encountered the exercisers again. This time the were bunched together, and when it was time to move walked right thru us -- mask free. We were so pissed. Not only was it rude, it was unnecessary in the age of COVID.
Next time we go Pam's son is going to bring disks and teach us how to play. Can you picture one-eye throwing a disk?
