There really isn't much to take pictures of at the yoga studio. It's pretty much a bare room. I took a picture of Sharon's walker that she's blinged out with rhinestones. But it isn't on my camera. So I have nothing.
A lot has happened in the past few days. I received a jarring email about my brother's health. My sister was moved to rehab and is working hard. My friends in Virginia had some more 4-legged kids. I checked on air conditioning and decided against it. School is wrapping up. I called cleaning services to get this pig sty back to health. And the world is still spinning, at least the last time I checked. So I guess it was a typical, not so typical week.
Monday I exercised with Milly alone. It was odd. Pat wanted me to bring my laptop to the rehab center. I said no. There are people there to do that.
I might have mentioned that Saturday or Sunday or both I walked with her at rehab. For the record, it is about 160 steps from her room in a P shape. If we go twice, that 320 steps. It is about 320 steps from the parking spot to her room. Yes, I counted them. (It's days like this I miss my FitBit). So that's almost 700 steps. So a visit to the rehab center always involves 1 walk and one round trip to the car for an average of 1000 steps. That's about a half mile. Add the N-95 mask and shield and it feels like I went twice that.
I don't think I did any real exercise Tuesday, but I never stopped moving until the rubber chicken fundraiser at 5:30. (Which included a cosmo.) The only thing I might count as exercise was the one P-loop at rehab and a round trip to the car.
At 6 am this morning I was on my computer grading. At 9:30 I was out the door to the rehab center. I read the jarring email to my sister, and although she had just gotten back from rehab we did the P-loop twice. I think she was ready for a nap when I left. It was a hop, skip, and jump to chair yoga with Pam. Every week it's a little different. Beth mixes it up a bit and that's nice. I had planned to meet Sharon at 1 for old lady exercise at the senior center and then we were going out for lupper (lunch & supper) at the Chinese buffet. She told me not to get too excited it really wasn't "much of anything".
It was 12:48 and I was still near Cedar Crest Boulevard. I called her and said I wouldn't make it for exercise. I'd meet her outside at 1:30 for lupper. But a miracle happened. There was NO traffic backups on Cedar Crest AND Route 22. NONE. I haven't gone the speed limit on 22 in years. I made it to the high rise by 1:07. I would be stuck outside. Then this large group of people came, I joined them and they had the gizmo to get in the door. I just walked right in and went to the senior center.
It's a big room. I see a semi circle of chairs and arms moving and someone counting. Aha. The exercise class. There was another group painting and someone was ironing. I don't see Sharon. WTF? I turned and she was off by herself under a window just sitting there. I grabbed the chair next to her and started working out. She joined in. (She said she was doing them. She couldn't do the one they were doing. Bull shit. It was marching, but one leg at a time. And she got caught.)
Of course I missed the warm up. I'm 10 minutes in and the sweat is pouring out of me. The exercise leader has them doing thirty reps of everything. A lot of the stuff we do with Milly. Some other stuff we don't. They never leave the chair. They don't use props of any kind. When we were done —I had done about 60% of the workout because I was late—I was hot, dripping with sweat and needed a drink. In all honesty the cool down was half-assed. I hit the restroom and met her at the elevator. We're waiting at the elevator and she said to me "See, I told you it was nothing".
