It was back to Philly again today. This time it was to walk at the John Heinz Natural Wildlife Refuge. It's adjacent to the Philadelphia International Airport, and serves to protect the largest remaining freshwater tidal marsh in Pennsylvania.I also had a shift working at the Checkpoint.
The walk began at the Visitor Center and went thru the woods. I clearly went wrong because when I reached the bridge over the pond I was on the wrong side of the pond. I was following the arrows, but clearly I missed one. We then headed into the wetlands before returning to the visitor center. Oops. I only did 3K. But I had to walk the 2.5K to the checkpoint, and back, so I was fine.
So much wildlife. I was adjacent to people who knew these things, so my list of wildlife will be very long. And I'm sure it's just the tip of the iceberg.
