eight! and I barely recognized it.

Every eight weeks Sharon and I go to downtown Allentown to get our haircut. While she has her hair done I walk for a half hour. There has been a lot of construction downtown and today it just overwhelmed me. They have ripped down almost everything. Any bit of character on Hamilton Street is gone or going. Replaced by boxes.

Above is Walnut at 8th. There was a parking deck and a parking lot there. It's been replaced by another one and an office building.

Here's another view from Ninth. A few old stores remain on this block of Ninth but they have construction fencing around them. Are they going or being rehabbed? I have no idea. But if I was a betting girl I'd say they are stripping them and they are going.

This is near S. Fountain (an alley) and Hamilton. It's next to the old appliance store with the art deco type.

This is Hamilton between 9th and 10th. On the Hess's side of the street.

This is directly across from the one above. It replaces a 60s-70s gallery style building.

It looks like I missed that large white building. The big hole is where Tucker's used to be. This is between Tenth and Eleventh. Almost the entire block was leveled.

I turned down Eleventh to head back toward the salon. I had a giant hole in my heart.

Later, after class, I took the "dog" for a walk and went around the big block.

Miles/Steps:  1 mile downtown, another half mile in the neighborhood
Weather:
       High 50s, sunny.
