wy-hit-tuck park

Bonnie needed to drop off her car in Hellertown at the dealer, and I was picking her up. The plan was to walk somewhere other than the Saucon Rail Trail. And it had to be shady. Close by was the old golf course — Woodlawn Hills Preserve — but it would be too sunny. There are bit of shade, but not much. This preserve is only about 5 years into the reclamation process.

Instead I decided to head out 78 to Wy-Hit-Tuk Park.  It is a county park outside of Easton and serves as a trail head for the D&L.I thought that might be shady. If not we could move down 611 to Twin Rivers and head into the woods. (Cue Stephen Sondheim.)  I was right and the shade held out for most of the walk.

It was an out and back. We did 30 minutes out, and then came back. Nothing remarkable. The canal was muddy. There was no wildlife. And the weeds were as high as an elephants eye. But most importantly there were piles and piles of goose shit. It was like walking around landmines. It was really, really bad at the trailhead, but it never really stopped. There was always shit to navigate.

Her car wasn't ready when we were done so I just dropped her off at home and then did some errands.

Miles/Steps:        3+
Weather:            mid-80s, sunny, breeze, growing humidity
Bathrooms:        I-3.5 in the park. Lots of bugs and creepy crawling things.
