It's been a wacky walking day.
My nieces dog has been sick and the medicine makes him lathargeic. We are still trying to get him to go out walking, but frankly, the hill is torture. Once we finally get to the top, he's fine. He loves coming down. He hates stairs.
It takes 2 of us and a handful of treats to get him moving. Now he's got friends in the hood. One near the top of the hill that gives him milk bones. We were talking and he got his bone, and then laid down to rest. He got up, walked up the rest of the hill — reluctantly — and headed to the next friends house. He knew he'd get a treat there as well. They were setting up for a year sale. The dog went thru the whole sale and checked out everything. I actually bought the three Pyrex loaf pans. I handed them to her and said "put these away. I'll be back shortly". We took the dog home and I went back to get my pans.
Lydia did some dog grooming, and then we headed out to walk. We picked the D&L Boat ramp section because we wanted to go to the farm for corn on the way home.
The river and the canal were Willy Wonka's chocolate river. The trail had sections with of lots of mud. This section is pretty rustic, unlike the bulk of the D&L that is groomed and wide. Going towards Bethlehem it was fairly shady. Coming back it was maybe 50% shady. I'm glad we didn't go later.
That last official stop was the farm for a baker's dozen of corn, cukes, eggs, and a rib eye. You could tell it's summer. (Dinner was amaze-balls!) Lydia also visited the baby cows.
After we left the farm, I turned down Washington Street to go to Easton Avenue. I stopped on a dime. There were two of these English taxis, just hanging out on the road.
I must be getting used to the heat. It didn't seem as bad today.
Miles/Steps: 3.8 for the walk and the two dog walks
Weather: afternoon-84, sunny, humid.
Bathrooms: None used. Can you imagine how hot those port-o-potties would be?
Wildlife: swallowtail butterfly, at least a dozen turtles, a gaggle of geese, another moth, probably, that was brown with an orange horizontal stripe.
