My local readers will know that I've been taking care of my sister who had a knee replaced June 16th. We are almost a month out and she's starting to get her independence back after a few bumps in the road. This week I'm only going over once a day. Next week it might be four times a week.
Since I'm in her senior high rise frequently, and I get bored waiting for slow elevators, I read all the signs. She always tells me nothing is happening there. There's a lot happening there. You need to read the signs! For example I encouraged her to go to Bingo last week just to get out of the apartment and talk to other people. "I hate Bingo." But you like people. She's very social. She didn't go.
On the list of activities for each Tuesday is Tai Chi at 9:30. I talked her into going. Because I went along. I'm not off restrictions yet, but it's close, and it's not like I'll being doing a strenuous workout.
Before committing to this I checked online if chair Tai Chi existed, and it did. But is it offered at the Senior Center? Yes. Actually, the only kind. They actually did the workout I posted above. Only 10 minutes. The old lady next to Sharon kept telling her to slow down. The look on Sharon's face was, I am so lost. I'm not sure if she had fun out not, but it got her out of the house and moving her upper body. We will go down next week as well.
Speaking of walking, she's been doing great with her walking. Now we're going to work on the back ramp. It's much longer and steeper. But it's so hot out, that might have to wait till next week.
Soon I'll be back to exercising with Pat. Everyone's PT is going to whip me into shape. (ha ha.) One of the porch sitters at the Senior High Rise told me today I have great legs. My brain was thinking huh? But I'm trying to accept compliments so I said thank you. It didn't hurt a bit.
