may days #6 -- a cobbled together section

Today Pam and I started at Canal Park in Allentown and headed north toward Catty. According to the D&L website, there are obstruction within this trail section. The last time I walked this section was in 2013. It was overgrown and there were a ton of ticks. The path was the width of a bike.

Today the banks were cleared, and the path mowed and wide. Our only encounter was with families of geese. We had to wait for them to clear the trail to continue on. This family couldn't decide which way they were going. Check the "extra" below for a funny story. There was a bridge and some signage. As I was reading the old post I saw that I made this suggestion:

"Mow the area we were walking, wider, on a regular basis.  Add some signs, make a walking lane on Bradford street, add even more signs. Signs are a really good thing."

Maybe the D&L people read my blog.

At the bridge we crossed the railroad tracks and headed up the Albert Street ramp to the trail head. Both sides of the street are marked as pedestrian and bike lanes. Personally, I wouldn't like to ride up that hill! When we finally reached the trail it was beautifully paved and even further uphill. The trail was away from the canal, and a mule would have never made it pulling a boat. Then it leads to a steep downhill. We arrived at Bradford Street and turned left. There was sidewalks for a bit, and then we walked in the street. Bradford street was trashed. It is a dumping grounds -- furniture, bags of trash, car parts, you name it, it was there. There were trains parked on the tracks. Bradford was another series of up and down hills ending at Dauphin.

As we turned on to Dauphin we could see Kimmets lock. It began to rain.

We headed back to Canal Park.

Miles/Steps:              4.5
Weather:                   low-50s, cloudy, rain
Wildlife:                    Four families of geese. One had 6 goslings! Most had two.
Money found:            1 penny
PPE found:                Too many to count.
Extra:                        The family with six goslings couldn't decide which way to go. As I was taking the picture Pam started laughing. I looked. One of the gosling fell on it's back and it's little feet were up in the air. Daddy goose started squawking. Mama goose turned around to look what was going on and headed toward the baby. By the time mama got there it righted itself. It was hysterical. We should have taken a video.

Blogger changed it's editor. It's now been drug into the 2020 technology. Feels more like Wordpress. I like the old one. I'm not good with change.

Note to AG -- My sister is much better and is now eating. Headed to rehab. Cue Amy Winehouse.
