i took the screen door for a walk.
Both my front and back screen doors have holes in them. I'm hoping to patch the front door. The back door needed to go for re-screening. It won't fit in my car so my only other option is to walk it down to Cantelmi's. And I did. But first I had to get it out.
This door pops out of it's track at the drop of a hat. Would it come out this morning? Hell, to the no. I was hoping to have it out before Lydia went to work so I'd get a picture. But that didn't happen. I finally ended up unscrewing the wheels so that it had all the give in the world. My sister helped, which wasn't helpful.
Nobody I walked past seemed to notice. I thought that was odd. If I saw someone walking down broadway and Fourth Street carrying a screen door, I'd like to think I'd notice.
When it's re-screened I get to carry it home again. Then the fight to put it back in begins.
52-hike challenge: 22/52
Miles/Steps: 3 miles
Weather: high 70s, at 8 am. Humid and sunny.
Extra: When I walk I say good morning to everyone. I'd say 80% respond with a good morning, or a smile, or maybe a nod. I said good morning to an old man at the bus stop in front of the senior high-rise. He had a cane, a crutch and a sickle. That's a little too much protection don't you think? Then coming up Aunt Dorothy's alley there was a man wearing a winter coat. I was dying in a t-shirt. Remnants of the full-moon crazies?
update: The screen door is ready. They are open till 2 on a Sunday, but it's really window out. There's no way I'd be able to walk with it.
