Okay. It wasn't sunrise. It's was 7:30. But Easter 7:30 walk doesn't have the same ring to it.When I put on the schedule I was expecting no one to come along. It is both Passover and Easter. But Angel said yes. And she would bring the family.
Originally I planned to go to Emmaus to the South Mountain trail head, but Angel lives in Wilson. That would have been silly. So we met at the D&L near Route 33. Her husband wanted something "woodsy" and "hiking like". That section fits the bill. It is quite rustic.
We saw a lot of trash floating in the river, and bunching up on the banks. But there was also a lot on the trail. I picked up a plastic riding car and brought it out. There were carpets, and tires. It's a big mess. I think part of the problem is a road runs parallel with it.
We also saw a huge dead turtle. His shell was the size of a small pizza. He was old. The winter was probably too much for him. We also found the ribs, leg and hoof of a deer. And a fresh pile of white and brown fur. Just laying there like confetti.
Winter took it's toll on the trail. We did 3.5 miles, and
I was home by 9.
(I had the first load of laundry out by 7. Yeah, spring has sprung.)
