I walked today after work (spring break). I just went around the block. The big thing I noticed was there was litter everywhere. A lot of it.
I think it's partially because people save parking spaces with trash cans. Partially because we've had storms with a lot of high winds. And finally because people are just pigs. In the other seasons I clean up near my house at least once a month. Others do as well. In the winter we don't. It really accumulates.
It turns out that the quick walk around the block is just short of 3/4 mile. Sadly, many of the non-shoveled walks were icy or worse, slushy.
At lunch time I also took a walka round campus.
Gotta take advantage of these 50 degree days.
