After class today I walked down to CVS. It's a short walk. Every sprig I feel like I should take a trash bag with me. After the snow melts there is always a ton of trash left behind. Eventually the street sweepers and the home owners clean most of it up. Not this year.
We had a mild winter to say the least. For the past three weeks we've been under "house arrest" because of C19. Nobody is going out to work or moving their cars. Or cleaning up the streets. The liter is getting out of control. The streets are a mess.
Yesterday was windy. As it was this morning. I think the wind relocated a lot of trash. It was everywhere. Today, I found the first rubber glove on Alaska Street. I thought, oh shit, not again.
Again.
I crossed the five points and again at Pete's hotdogs. In addition to regular trash, I found five gloves in multiple colors before I hit Wells Fargo Bank. I also found three masks. My thought is that they wear them into the supermarket and discard them in the street when they come back out. Idiots.
I didn't find anymore gloves or masks on the rest of my walk. But I did find a used condom.
Miles/Steps: 2ish
Weather: sunny, windy 50s
PPE found: 6 gloves, 3 masks, 1 condom
