a horrible trend

Today was the day I long dreaded -- the laundromat. The laundromat is not the picture of health on a good day. I don't even want to think about it during a pandemic. But I finally had enough quarters so it was time to wash the bathroom rugs. No use cleaning the floor and putting down dirty ones.

I walked and rugs are heavy. They are all cotton that I bought many years ago from Land's End. How long? My mother was still alive. That's at least 20 years. They were expensive but clearly, I got my money's worth out of them. Someone had given me pods, so I took those because they were light. I also took my basket. Never in a million years did I think I'd need to sanitize my basket at the end of the day.

I took gloves. I put them on to open the door, the machine, and put the money in and press the buttons. Just as I was finishing another man came in. I'm, the only person and there is probably 30 machines. Which did he pick? The one next to mine of course.

I peeled the gloves off and headed out the door for my walk. I just kind of roamed around and wove in and out of streets avoiding people. If I saw a person I turned. I also had a horrible problem with my socks falling into my shoes. I took them off and threw them in a trash bin.

While I was walking I noticed a trend -- plastic glove litter.  Every day I see at least one. Today I saw three. It's bad because not only is it litter, but it is potentially contaminated litter. There were bunches in the bin at the laundromat. This whole pandemic is an ecological clusterfuck.

When I returned to the laundry the man was still loading machines. He used four triple loads. I threw my wash in the drier and then made a loop around the shopping center before I settled in to wait. I was afraid to sit on the seat, but didn't want to stand. Too bad I don't believe in those wipe things.

PPE found: 3 gloves
