chasing horses
This weekend the Budweiser Clydesdale horses are in town. They arrived yesterday, paraded around Bethlehem today and I think they will be at the dedication of the new mounted police barn tomorrow. Then they will be in Easton on Sunday.
This adventure started yesterday with a text from Lydia asking if I wanted to go to the parade today. It snowballed and we ended up going last night to the ice rink.
I picked up Lydia and we grabbed Bubba and went to see the horses. We thought the line was just outside. Then we discovered the one inside. We had already invested a half hour so decided to stay. Inside it was cooler, and the radio station was inside. Plus some photo booths and other stuff to look at.Time went a little quicker.
Today we walked downtown to see them. We arrived just on time to see them off, then waited about an hour and a half for them to come back. It reminded me a whole lot of bike races I used to go to. Wait for a long time, bikes fly by, repeat. We walked around while waiting and stopped at a restaurant for a drink.
They went around the block and delivered beer. Up Main. Out Broad. Down New. Back Church. We walked up to the Brethren's house about 3:30 and didn't have to wait long for them to come. the we headed over the bridge to watch them unhitch from above. And walked home.
I also walked the dog, twice.
Miles/Steps: 4.75 for all three walks
Bathrooms: None used
Wildlife: Blue Heron
Weather: High 80s, sunny, hot
$ Found: 0
Extras: Coming back home on Broadway, we saw a couple walking down Seminole Street wheeling a large cage. It was three levels and had parakeets in it. 15 of them.They were taking them for a "walk". Apparently they do this everyday. They were squaking like crazy. Clearly they did not enjoy it.
