Yesterday was the Broadway play trip with my nieces Girl Scout troop. In my group was me, Bonnie, the tween and the teen.We left my house at 6:45 am, that's the reason the teen camped out the night before. After picking up Bonnie we were off to the start point.
The bus picked us up at 7:30 and we were dropped off at the wax museum by 9:30. I had never seen the appeal of the wax museum but that's what the girls voted on. It was creepy. The best part was P!nk hanging out over the stairway on her trapeze. Some were good, like the Bond men and P!nk, and others like Lucy were dreadful. I only guess Taylor Swift because of the way she stood.
Bonnie is still recovering from her hip replacement so we knew two things for sure. In our free time we couldn't go far, and we wanted to stay out of Times Square. That is a special corner of Hell on a weekend. Since I had three bibliophiles with me I thought maybe they would enjoy the NY Public Library.
"This isn't a library. It's a museum.", said the tween. She kept asking where the books were. There are massive reading rooms and they bring the books too you. The kids weren't interested in paintings and architecture.
Then we headed to Bryant Park to rest and have beverages, before we needed to make our way back to the Hard Rock Cafe for lunch. We only had about an hour after lunch to walk around, and so we did. The tween bought a sparkly hat from the street vendor, we went in a tacky tourist store, and watched some boy play plastic pickle buckets at the subway entrance. The tween threw in a $1 of her money. I gave the teen a dollar. Each performer made 40 cents from us.
Finally it was time for the show. It was Disney's Aladdin. Disney does multi level humor very well so there was plenty of comedy for adults and kids of all ages. I think the kids enjoyed it.
Then it was back on the bus, drop off Bonnie, pick up the teens stuff and then take her home. I finally arrived home at 9.
