new walker on a rainy walk

Back in March when Lil Bug and I did the shelter breakfast at Central Moravian, we met the coordinator Rose. It was a busy day but there was lots of volunteers. Eventually the conversation turned to walking.

Rose told me she was retiring this summer and maybe could walk with us. Wednesday or Thursday I received an email from Rose. Indeed she was retired and wanted to walk. I added her to the walking list.

She replied affirmatively.

Saturday Lydia and I met her and her friend Mary Jo at Trexler Park. It was drizzling.

We started with the upper loops, visiting General Trexler, and then Mary Jo said goodbye and we did the lower loop. Mary Jo was smart. The last mile was in a steady rain. All in all it was just over 3 miles.

Creek on the lower loop near the spring house.

Since we were already wet, we took Adonis out for his walk when we got home. He does not like pictures.

In the afternoon we went to Dave and Barbs for a yummy picnic of home smoked meats. Took the dog for another walk before the fireworks, and then walked to the cemetery for the fireworks. They were about a half hour, but not the best show I've seen.
