run for rylie

Today was the run for Rylie at Lake Nockamixon outside of Q'town. It's a really nice park. I've never been there.

I was closing windows and doors when Lyd arrived at 7:10. There was a big fire in Fountain Hill and it stank! I didn't want that coming in the house. You can still smell it a little.

We picked up Bonnie at about 7:30 and headed to the Lake. When we arrived there wasn't many people. Maybe 50.

This race was a bit odd. Usually if there is separate starting times for runner and walkers it's 5-10—no more than 15 minutes. For this race the runners started at 9, the kids run was at 10, and the walkers went out at 10:30. You have to be kidding. The people that take the longest go last?

The race was on the bike trail. We lined up behind the runners and went on our way. Lyd took the "butt" photo.

It was weird being the only walkers. Nobody passed us. Nobody to gauge the speed you were going.


The course was hilly. More than rolling hills but not horrible. We joked that it was uphill both directions.

Since we had no clock these are gustimates from Bonnie's watch. Bonnie finished in 53:28, me at 53.31, Lyd at 58:10 and Sharon in 60:32.

Our next event is a four-miler. The Firecracker 4-mile on the fourth of July.
