nor-bath trail

This afternoon Bonnie and I did the Nor-Bath trail. We did the 5-mile section when we were training for the Avon walk. Today's section was about a mile.

This is a really nice trail small gravel or macadam. The small gravel was a little squishy today, but it is January, after all. The section we went thru today went thru an old cement plant.

When we did the other section last year, we noticed that many of the historic markers were missing or vandalized. The same holds true for this section. It's very disappoint. I'm sure some Boy or Girl Scout worked their butts off making those sign just to have someone destroy them. But that is life today, isn't it. No respect for people or property.

We chose this trail because Lydia was having a Tomboy Tool party. Normally that wouldn't interest me. But they are a corporate sponsor of the Avon Breast Cancer Walk.  They give lots of money to breast cancer research and they were very nice at the Wellness Village when I did the Avon walks.

It was a good walk, we kept a nice speed and the return trip was pretty much up-hill.

Today I registered for my first competitive 10, and a 5K on St Patty's Day. Tomorrow begins the last week of my program, and weigh in is January 19. I'm looking for a last chance workout!

i finished before bonnie!

Just barely, but I beat "Jillian" at the CF Climb for Life in Philly—53 floors, 1019 steps.

We arrived in Philly at 8, and found a place to park on the street. Philly meters are no longer individual, so we had to locate the meter box, pay, get a ticket, and then place it on Aretha's windshield. But the graffiti artists had covered up the instructions with their "art". Bonnie finally figured out how to make it work.

Upon arriving at the Mellon Bank building, we waited in a long sign-in line, and waited some more in the lobby. It was schedules to start at 9, and by the time they were done BS-ing, we started at 9:20.

We decided ahead of time to do what I did last year and stop every five floors for a little break. At the 25th floor, Bonnie started checking her pulse. I didn't check my pulse. If I passed out and fell over it meant that I was working too hard! I drank a lot of water.

I handed the volunteer my camera and she snapped our picture on the last flight of stairs. (See, I'm in front!) Then again at the 53rd floor sign.

Gosh do I look fat in the 53rd floor picture. I need to blow that pix up and hang it on the fridge and cupboards!

makeover?

Well, what do you think of the makeover of the banner? I redid my doodling blog, and my friend Angel's cooking blog about two weeks ago and have been thinking about redoing this one a lot.

The biggest stumbling block was the "self-portrait".

I have some body image issues. But then, you could have guessed that. There was a show on television called How to Look Good Naked or something like that. It was on cable, so I only saw it once. It was all about body image and loving yourself.  In one of the exercises they had about eight women the same height and bone structure as you, from skinny to really fat.  So you had to put yourself in the line.  I would have put myself in the next room.

Today, I saw a woman who I thought represented "me". I said to my carpool, is that how fat I am? They said no. I was much thinner. Really? I can't believe that.  I made my portrait a little thinner. Not much. For those who know me, is she really too fat?

She's wearing her trademarked Birks and all dressed in pink, to represent the breast cancer walks without using ribbons. And her Kentucky Oaks "Ladies First" cap. Even though this year I'm trying to wear the dreaded sneakers.

Too fat or not, she's sassy and has attitude. Now I just need to find some of that also.
