farmer's market thursday

I've been doing walks in the neighborhood a lot. Short walks, sometimes twice a day. The term ends this week and then for a month I'll be able to go and do walks away from home. Within reason. I don't think I'll ever be able to go back to leaving Pat alone full days or overnight.

The neighborhood supermarket closed on March 31, and was put up for sale. Last week someone bought it. It will be six months before it opens. They plan on remodeling. That's a long time coming. When Ahart's bought this Laneco (and before that Pantry Pride and Food Fair) I think the transition was probably seamless. They did no work whatsoever. Nor did they do anything in the 20+ years since.

Today as I walked to the Lehigh/South Bethlehem Farmer's Market they were already starting demo. You can't see it but there are two big dumpsters. I bet they gut it. It would make sense. The plumbing and electric are probably shot and I know the fridges and freezers would break on a somewhat regular schedule.

What would be nice is something like Aldi that is affordable. But the space isn't big enough. I'm going to guess that this is a small chain. Maybe even regional. But I can't think of what. A single person couldn't afford the renovations.

When I arrived at the Farmer's Market, there still wasn't much there. It's just too early. I bought some apples and lettuce. I guess I need to go to the supermarket.
