the problem with free papers

I've always been aware of the free papers laying on the ground. Unlike me, most homeowners do not pick them up and recycle them. At least not in my neighborhood.

Usually they land on the sidewalk, where I have to walk around them. By day two or three they have been kicked into the streets.

I'm only really noticing them now because I am walking the dog 2 and three times a day. I  am seeing them decompose. It's not pretty. This paper is about 2 weeks old. It has been rained and snowed on. My guess is that it should be gone in another week or so. Especially with the snow were having today.

Tomorrow is recycle day. One part of me wants to go pick them up, and put them in the bin. Another part of me says it's none of my business. Don't know what to do. I always hear if you pick up 10 pieces of trash while walking, the world will be cleaner. Maybe that should be my January challenge.
