free beer, laziness, and swag

Another lazy week. I was hoping to hit my goals today but it's pouring. Maybe this afternoon.

Updates from last Sunday: There was quite a racquet on FB, Twitter and traditional media last week about the race.  Yesterday I received an email with a photo link (I'm looking down on them all) and an apology for the chaos last week. It also said I could use those free beer tickets this weekend at the festival. Problem is, I tossed them last week. Trash man comes on Tuesdays. Oh well.

Oh, it also gave us this little badge for our website.  That an a coupon won't get you a free beer.

Monday and Wednesday I was in Easton. So busy I could even take a little walk at lunch time. Lydia came over Wednesday night and we took the dog for a walk, then walked south Bethlehem. I were my slide sneakers without socks and paid for it. The tops of my toes were blistered by 2 miles. They were busted open by the time we got home.

Tuesday I walked to the north side and back. I tried to find every hill. Including up Wyandotte street. Good workout in an otherwise lackluster week.

Thursday I had planned on taking the scenic route to the dentist and back. Didn't work out that way. I was in one of my online classes working away when the voice from the yellow chair said "Don't you have a dentist appointment at 10?" It was 9:50. I took the car, then also drove to the farm market.

Thursday I also picked up my Walking Warriors swag at the college. A short sleeve tee shirt and a water bottle. I rinsed out the bottle and used it during class. I made the mistake of filling it ... twice. I was up all night. The tee is grey with walking warriors on the front and the logo on the back in orange. The water bottle is orange with the logo. This is the last week of the challenge. So far I haven't won anything.

Friday in the mail the first level prize arrived for the 165 challenge. Yep, another tee shirt. But this one is long sleeve and a really soft cotton. It will make a nice under shirt. The Tail On The Trail logo is on the back. They also sent a car magnet. I have one from last year. Neither will be on the car.

Yesterday I walked with Betsy in her surburban neighborhood.

Okay, maybe I'm not so lazy after all. But the reality is I'm at 72% of my weekly goal. 25% more is maybe 25K in steps. I might have done that walking the eight miles today. I see little chance of that happening.

Off to work while it's raining.

meandering walk

Yesterday was the packet pickup for the Celtic Classic 5K. It was at Memorial Pools parking lot. I arrived at about 3. Pickup started at 4. Since Betsy wasn't available for our Friday walk, I decided to walk around the park for an hour.

First I headed toward the mill and back up the hill. Then I headed toward the recycle center and dropped off the recycling I was carrying. Then I headed toward Schoenersville Rd. It took forever to cross the street, and I made my way up to Catty Road. And turned left on Kaywin. Kaywin is a lot longer than I thought. It brought me out at Eaton Avenue and I made my way to CVS.

After shopping, I went up 8th Avenue, and crossed illegally at the Wawa. Made my way across the fields and back to the Pool. It was 4.5 miles and past 4:30. But on the up side, all my errands were done.

I walked up for the packets. It took a while. irst I had to get our numbers, then our chips on yellow ankle bracelets, then for shirts, then for bags. I think the bags should have been the first stop.

With rush hour traffic it was nearly 5:30 when i returned home.

came home to swag

While I was gone a lot of stuff arrived in the mail. (pictures when I find my camera)

Before I left I sent in my Pennsylvania walk book. Twenty Pennsylvania walks in a year. The pin arrive.

Also before I left I sent in my distance and events books. I've done more than 500 Volkssport  kilometers. In that packed I received a 500k patch, a 500K pin, another IVV patch this time black with gold thread, and another IVV pin, this time all gold.

Finally the box came for the moon walk. It contained a hat, t-shirt, bra, personal race bib, string backpack, Mylar blanket, and instructions. This walk is next Saturday night. It begins at 10 pm and happens overnight. I'd probably finish around 2 am. I signed up in a NY minute. But then I couldn't get anyone to come along. I'm in a quandary. Do I go and hope I make a friend, or do I stay home? Don't really relish walking around NYC at night, wearing a decorated bra, "alone". I wasn't really successful making walking friends at the Saunter except for the old couple who I walked with for about an hour.

We'll see what develops. And what else comes in the mail.

tail on the trail swag

I was leaving to pick up Bonnie to go walking and the mail carrier came. It was 12:30. I was shocked. Lately he doesn't come till nearly 5. And there is a large bulky envelope and I didn't order anything. What the heck?

It was my Tail on the Trail swag from the 30/30 winter challenge. Gloves and an ice scraper. After Bonnie and Lydia receive their 30 mile gifts (I met the 90 bonus challenge) I'll find out what the 30/30 gift was.

Funny, I was wearing my Tail on the Trail summer swag today—the fleece jacket and the hat.

Since my scrapper went AWOL this winter, I appreciate the scraper. I'll lose the gloves by the second time I wear them.
