a.diversion

We interrupt the walking of the D&L for a shady diversion. I was back today at the Alpine Street Trail. Pam really wanted to visit the teens rock from Sunday.

She had her husbands car and tried to trick me. I looked for her yellow car. I must take a pick of it one day. It's not a car, or an SUV or a truck. I think it's in it's own class. It's taxi allow, and the back end is covered in bumper stickers. Not a single one says "Trump for President".

They way we went today was supposed to be the same as Sunday. And at the beginning it was. Then we got to one of those odd intersections and Pam said the trail marker said go this way but I was pretty sure the other day we went that way. We almost immediately came to THE ROCK. But we approached it from the other side.

We continued on and in a little while found another huge rock outcropping. The teen would have loved it.

We're now walking downhill, finally and there's an area of dirt and pipes, and Pam starts climbing up the hill.  WTF? Where are you going? She said it looked like there was water coming form this old foundation. And there was. There's a total spring underneath it. This whole was open. The others were mostly closed. Pam stuck her hiking pole in and it was 3-4 inches deep on one end and half her stick on the other. There was also a square chimney shape which we though might have been the well. A springhouse would have been open. Who'd build their house over a spring.

Thankfully we had a map on the first pic we took. Pam kept consulting it. Maybe next time we should just take a pic of the map. Just in case.

I've never seen a lot of this section of the park. I don't think I've ever done this trail correctly.

Miles/Steps:    1.7 is the trail, plus two walks with Pat

Little walks:

Daily I do a small walk with my sister. Because it's so hot it is now before 7 am. I walk with her as she navigates the walker. I don't think she needs the walker. She doesn't use it in the house, or in stores (but she does use a cart). But the sidewalks here are so uneven I also don't want her to fall. A security net is probably better. Though I think it is possible to fall with a walker. Yesterday we just walked to the top of the hill. But she didn't stop.

On returning home she was filled with confidence. "Tomorrow" she said, "we will walk to the top of the hill, turn left, and come home down the alley."  Alrighty.  Now she's planning routes.

We also do a set of five leg exercises daily. We've moved the kitchen chairs into the living room because there's a ceiling fan.

After I mentioned there was a lot of corn from last year in the freezer, she announced that I should make fritters for dinner. I did. She rarely makes a suggestion. However we used up the last of the eggs at lunch. Now I can make egg substitute from flak seed and water but not for a fritter. If I'm eating toxic, I'm eating toxic. Decided to walk the four blocks to the bodega. I was half-way there when I realized I had no mask. I walked home, go a mask and walked back. Got the eggs, and walked home again.

Miles/Steps:    > 1 nile for both walks
Weather:           92, humid, sunny.
PPE Found:      1 mask
SLF:                 NONE!
