This blog has centered around food a lot. Today is no exception.
Yesterday when we finished the walk, I said to Sharon and Lyd, what are we doing about lunch? Lyd said she could really eat a nice grilled steak. I haven't had a grilled steak in eons. So I said okay. We'll have lupper (lunch-supper).
At first I was going to go to the farm and get the steak, but it would be frozen. On the way home there's a bottom Dollar in Fountain Hill so we stopped there. They had T-bones for $5.77/lb. Pretty good price. One of the reasons I haven't bought steak is because it was expensive.
I had a nail appointment, so when I got home at two we threw the steaks on the grill. I like meat well done but tender and juicy. Hard balance to achieve. Usually when I grill I get hockey pucks. I made them right. (Shocking, huh?) They were perfect. I could have ate one myself. We had two for the four of us, and Adonis. I chewed off a bone. Haven't done that in decades/
So what does this have to do with walking? On July 8 we are having a family picnic. Because the men in my family love to grill we decided to with steak and chicken. Don't worry, they'll be plenty of veggies and gluten free salads too. Bonnie and I figured eight of these big t-bones would be enough. I might ultimately get ten. There's a limit of two packages. So I only get four steaks per trip. Today I'll be walking to Bottom Dollar twice to get steaks.
Now I need to watch for a great chicken sale.
